Montessori Elementary

Ages 6 to 12 Years - The Age of Imagination and Reason

“Help me to think for myself” As children enter the Elementary years, their curiosity expands beyond the classroom. They begin asking profound questions.

How was the universe formed?
Why do people build cities?
How do plants grow?
What is justice?

Elementary Montessori embraces these questions by transforming education into an exciting journey of exploration and discovery. For the elementary child, we have the Cosmic Education. Rather than teaching isolated subjects, children discover how History, mathematics, science, geography, language and the arts are interconnected. Learning becomes meaningful because children understand not only facts but also the relationships between them. The universe becomes their classroom.

The Elementary Experience at Hive

Our Elementary programme encourages children to become thinkers, researchers and compassionate global citizens. They develop confidence to ask questions, seek answers independently and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Education becomes an adventure driven by curiosity rather than obligation. Children leave Elementary with strong academic foundations, intellectual independence and a deep understanding of their place within the larger world.

Collaboration, Leadership and Independence

Montessori Elementary moves beyond individual learning to encourage true collaboration — children work together on research projects, solve problems collectively and learn to appreciate different perspectives, with older children naturally mentoring younger peers to build empathy and leadership. Alongside this, children gradually learn to organise their own work, manage their time and take responsibility for their learning, developing the executive functioning skills that prepare them for adolescence and adulthood.

Igniting Curiosity Through Discovery

Montessori Elementary moves beyond textbooks into a world of stories, exploration and inquiry. Children are introduced to grand ideas that spark imagination, then given the freedom to research, question and discover — building not just knowledge, but a genuine love of learning that carries them through the years ahead.
Elementary children begin their academic journey through the Montessori Great Lessons — five inspiring stories that awaken wonder about the universe, life, humanity, language and numbers. Told with imagination rather than instruction, these stories spark endless questions and become the foundation for years of independent research and discovery.
Elementary children naturally seek experiences beyond books. At Hive, learning extends into nature walks, field studies and scientific investigations, community experiences and collaborative projects. Children learn to ask meaningful questions, conduct research and communicate their understanding with confidence.
Montessori Elementary offers rigorous academic learning while respecting the child’s developmental needs. Learning remains hands-on, connected and meaningful — building true understanding rather than rote memorisation across every subject.
